Soccer Options in Little Falls

There are a number of different ways to get involved in the game of soccer in Little Falls, MN throughout the year. This page brings together information on offerings of LFYS, Little Falls Community Services, and the Little Falls Community High School.

Summer Soccer

Preschool

Little Falls Community Services sponsor preschool soccer for kids to learn the basics of having fun while kicking a ball.

Elementary School

Elementary kids finishing Kindergarten through fifth grade can play in Community Services’ K-5 in-house recreational soccer program. This program is held on Monday and Wednesday nights in June and July at the Belle Prairie Soccer Complex. Kids are placed on teams based on grade and compete in “small sided” games against other teams. No score is kept and the goal is to build foundational soccer skills, teamwork, and communication while having fun playing soccer.

LFYS 10U teams are traveling teams for 9 and 10 year olds (those that turn 9 or 10 during the calendar year) and compete in league play with surrounding communities as scheduled by the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association. Players can participate in both the K-5 Community Services program and the LFYS 10U program, but the LFYS program is much more competitive.

Middle School and High School

Players play on competitive travel teams with LFYS. The club usually fields 3 girls teams and 3 boys teams between U11-18. Teams are formed based on the number of players (and coaches) available. For example, a U12, U14, and U17 team. This means that we often have teams that span 2 or 3 years. We try to keep the younger teams to two years, but it is all based on registration numbers with the goal of providing an opportunity to play for as many players as possible. These travel teams compete in 5 home and 5 away games in various towns throughout the region between April and July 3.

Fall Soccer

Preschool and Elementary

Preschool and Elementary soccer options are available through Little Falls Community Services at various times throughout the year, including during the fall. Normally elementary soccer will take place immediately after school and will use field space available at the elementary schools.

Middle School Soccer

Middle School soccer is available for both boys and girls started the first week of school in September and running through mid-October. Teams compete against other area and conference opponents in Central Minnesota. Registration for middle school soccer is run through Little Falls Community Services in August and September each year.

High School Junior Varsity and Varsity Soccer

Little Falls Community High School fields a JV and Varsity team for both boys and girls. Registration runs through the High School Activities Office and normally open August 1. The season start mid-August and run through mid-October. Teams are sanctioned through the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL).

Winter Options

There is no formal winter program in Little Falls. However, there are often competitions or tournaments in other communities (Alexandria, Brainerd, St. Cloud, etc.) that LFYS will sponsor teams for.
